The Center for Sacred Studies aligned with SEEDS to peacefully, eagerly and optimistically chase away the darkness of the year 2020, ushering in the new year with ceremonial fires, celebrating indigenous voices across the planet, with a recommitment to regenerative, healthy life for our planet and a promise to keep the flames of consciousness spreading.
Their message is consistent with the mantras of many global organizations today: Listen and Learn from Original Peoples to ensure their stories live; that they are carried through future generations and kept in safe places.
One of the goals for the Center for Sacred Studies is to put sacred sites back into the hands of the Original Peoples of the world. Determining 25 years ago that they would no longer be ignored, the elders awakened to a force within to create vehicles of service to collectively weave a future through intentional communities, bringing back the sacred feminine into awareness for the sake of individual empowerment, planetary healing and social justice. Co-Founder Jyoti Ma says, “When we unleash the full power of the Feminine, we have the power to transform ourselves and the world around us.”
Catalyzed by the events of 9/11 – the World Trade Center attack, the non-profit root of the Center for Sacred Studies took hold in 2001. The Center’s mission is dedicated to sustaining ways of life through Earth-based ways of prayer rooted on collaboration and reciprocity with Mother Earth and all her beings. Guided by Indigenous Spiritual Leaders, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Advisors from many Original Nations around the world, the Center for Sacred Studies serves a global community through Earth-based initiatives, the honoring of ceremonies–a Global PrayerLine–and inspiring many through their Global University’s Ministry and Educational programs.
In 2004, the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers was birthed, bringing together a Global Ministry to keep the wave of consciousness moving. Councils now convene in more than 70 countries; holding seven days of prayer for world peace expressed through different cultures and many languages. To catalyze the journey to reconnection and unification, The Fountain was created in 2012 to bridge Original Principles of ancestral cultures–Reciprocity, Respect, Responsibility and Relationship–into a new vision for a restored global economy of reciprocity inspired by nature and the sacred.
The Center has applied for $25,000 to $35,000 in USD in Seeds to support more than 500,000 active members, fund additional projects, provide scholarships support for students in the Global University, sponsor international communities, and create relationships with collaborative communities to share educational tools. Their most pressing fiscal needs are covering operational costs and upgrading technology and infrastructure in support of future growth.
