We started off the session with a grounding meditation and a song sang together with the group. We then opened the floor by going through some initial comments that have been posted on the Constitution, some grounding questions and a discussion on the most important elements we collectively want to bring in to the Constitution

Declaration

This is the section of the Constitution where we declare what we are coming together to co-create and build. We have 2 different approaches and everyone was asked to examine them and offer feedback. People had varying perspectives, but generally agreed that we needed to make the opening declaration accessible for everyone and acknowledged the importance of this section to set the tone for the rest of the document.

Purpose statement

Comments included simplifying the language to reach the common person. This comment echoed throughout the Constitution.

Vision

Again, there were comments on simplifying the language to reduce complexity. It was said that in order to show humanity that Utopia is possible, it must be explained in nearly scientific terms. The question was posed: How can we truly value what our hearts believe in? Emphasis was made to demonstrate membership in nature without separation from it while identifying sovereignty of all sentient beings.

Overall Feeling

There was a collective sentiment that we don’t have the answer to all of these issues addressed in the Constitution, but that we are co-creating possibilities through this process. And finally, there was a discussion around releasing attachment to the vision, but recognising that the vision will continue to evolve with time.

Conclusion

The floor was opened to additional individuals to feel empowered to speak.

Some comments included a sentiment of giving without taking, and the community of SEEDS offering a bridge between technology and spirituality.

Next Steps

The process of evolving each section once it is ratified:

  • each section is clickable,
  • within the given section, you can suggest an edit
  • that edit will go for a vote.

We would like to offer this in the editing process whereby you can click on a section and suggest an edit to be integrated.

If anyone would like to volunteer to help edit this document, we welcome comments and edits. The document is open to anyone to make suggestions that will help make the language more accessible to everyone. You can find it by clicking here, and we will do our best to incorporate the feedback in a timely manner.

The next Global Constitution Assembly will be held on 22 October 2020 where we will continue to digest and integrate the wisdom that has been shared.

We’ve had a lot of people joining these calls. So, in this upcoming session we’ll host breakout groups (we figured out how to do it 🙂 ) to give everyone a chance to be heard and have that wisdom recorded and shared back up into the whole.

We’ve got some big questions to go over like:

  • What is a bioregion?
  • Do we mandate that these regions are based on biological boundaries or simply cultural borders?
  • How about freezing funding from a “hacker”?
  • Is there an ability to freeze accounts funds, does this impede on the sovereignty of cryptocurrency?
  • Should decentralized governance be able to have this ability?

We’ll go over a bit more of the constitution on this call.

The 5th and (potentially) final Constitution Assembly will be on 29 October 2020 where a draft constitution will be shown in full and presented to the community for assessment. However, if there is not a clear consensus we’ll have a sixth and even a seventh assembly as necessary.

We are collectively grateful for all the input and feedback throughout this process and we are honoured to be co-creating this together.

Here is the transcript of the chat during the call.
